Over the past decade, Georgia has proven itself as a top destination for business, consistently earning high rankings for fostering private investment and growth. In today’s competitive environment for jobs and industries, it is essential to support policies that allow businesses to expand and thrive. The Fayette Chamber is committed to advocating at local, state, and federal levels to support the needs of employers—large and small, public and private—to sustain a strong economic environment. 

 

Economic Development 

 

  • Support the continuation and expansion of the tax credit program for film and television production, which has significantly contributed to Georgia’s economy by attracting major productions and creating local jobs.

  • Advocate for the preservation and enhancement of data center tax credits, recognizing that companies have made long-term business decisions based on these state policies. Ensuring these incentives continue to foster innovation and bolster Georgia’s reputation as a tech-friendly state.

Transportation & Infrastructure

 

  •  Promote continued, strategic state investment in Georgia’s transportation network, including roadways, transit systems, and freight corridors, to support economic growth, reduce congestion, and improve quality of life for residents and businesses alike.

Technology 

 

  • Back state efforts to expand broadband internet access to unserved and underserved areas, ensuring fair access to digital infrastructure, which is crucial for economic development, education, and healthcare services.

  • Closely watch data privacy legislation to ensure that any new state frameworks for the collection, sale, and transfer of consumer data are balanced and do not unnecessarily burden businesses while protecting consumer rights.

  • Closely monitor any forthcoming AI-related legislation stemming from the Georgia Senate AI Study Committee's recommendations for potential to significantly impact business operations, innovation, and regulatory compliance across industries. 

 

Education & Workforce Development

 

  • Advocate for continued robust funding of Clayton State University and Southern Crescent Technical College to equip students with skills for high-demand industries. This includes support for expanding apprenticeship programs that create pathways from non-credit to credit-based education, ensuring workforce readiness for modern industries.

  • Support initiatives that focus on developing, keeping, and attracting a competitive, globally oriented workforce, critical to keeping Georgia’s economy dynamic and diverse.

  • Push for stable and adequate funding for the Dual Enrollment program, ensuring that Fayette County students have access to college-level coursework and technical training, preparing them for both higher education and direct entry into the workforce.

Taxes & Business Regulations 

 

  • Advocate for policies that sustain Georgia’s business-friendly tax environment, reducing the regulatory and financial burdens on businesses to encourage investment and job creation. We support initiatives that streamline regulations and cut red tape, ensuring businesses can run efficiently and continue to contribute to Georgia’s economic vitality.

Childcare 

 

  • Advocate for the development of affordable, accessible childcare solutions that support working families and strengthen the workforce. By addressing this critical need, employers can enhance employee retention, productivity, and well-being, fostering a more resilient and inclusive economy

Quality of Life Initiatives 

 

  • Fayette County’s community assets, including its safety, housing options, and public amenities, are essential to its overall appeal. The Chamber will advocate for policies that promote public safety, expand housing affordability and diversity, and enhance public amenities such as parks, libraries, and recreational spaces. These quality-of-life initiatives are vital to attracting and keeping residents, businesses, and workforce talent.

Besides these specific items, the Fayette Chamber also supports initiatives outlined in the Regional Business Coalition’s 2025 General Assembly agenda. This comprehensive legislative agenda will guide the Fayette Chamber’s advocacy efforts to promote a vibrant, competitive, and sustainable business environment in 2025, ensuring Fayette County and Georgia continue to prosper.
